From the earth
A reminder to pause, breathe and reconnect directly with nature.
From the Earth was created in the Great Dividing Range, Queensland, Australia.
Inspired by the rugged landscape, shifting weather systems, and elemental rhythms of the Australian bush, the collection is deeply connected to the land from which it emerges.
These works began not in the studio, but from the earth itself. Through the respectful wild-harvesting of natural pigments — gathered in small quantities by hand, crushed, processed, and bound to canvas — each work carries traces of place, material history, and landscape.
From the Earth emerges from a desire to slow down and reconnect with the earth in an increasingly artificially driven world. Wild-harvested earth pigments are combined with sourced raw minerals and oxides, bound to canvas support.
Each work carries traces of the earth and conceptually explores the connection between humanity, the natural world, and technology. These works are reminders to pause, breathe, and reconnect directly with nature.
From the Earth offers something real, tactile, and grounded — made by the hands of a human.

about the artist
Storm Lahiff is a contemporary emerging artist working from her mountain studio on the Great Dividing Range, Queensland, Australia.
Her material-led practice is grounded in the use of respectfully wild-harvested earth pigments, gathered in small quantities by hand from the landscape in which she lives.
Working directly with raw earth, minerals, and oxides, Lahiff crushes and processes pigments by hand, creating works that carry traces of place, elemental forces, and the physicality of the Australian landscape.
Her practice explores the relationship between humanity, nature, and increasingly artificial ways of living, reflecting on the growing desire to reconnect with what is real, tactile, and grounded.
Through restrained palettes and atmospheric abstraction, Lahiff invites viewers into moments of stillness, contemplation, and awe.
