Wild Harvested Earth Pigments, Earth Minerals, Oxides on stretched cotton canvas
ABOUT
Food production is an integral to the survival of humanity, after the harvest, a beautiful pattern appears sculpted into the landscape.
With an ever growing population in an increasing changing climate farmers and scientists work to create sustainable solutions for food production.
About the Artist
Storm Lahiff is an artist who creates from her mountain studio in the Great Dividing Range of Queensland, Australia.
Storm's process involves respectfully wild harvesting earth pigments from her mountain property, grinding the rocks by hand - processing them into paint.
These pigments are then used by themselves or combined with sourced earth minerals and oxides not native to the land in which she lives, but whose hues depict the story of the land.
Each work carries traces of the earth, and discusses the connection between humanity, the natural world, and technology.
These works are reminders to pause, breathe and reconnect directly with nature.
From the Earth offers something real, tactile, grounded- made by the hands of a human.
Notes
While every effort is made to ensure accurate representation, colours may vary due to differences in screen settings and display.
Each piece is created by hand, with a strong emphasis on texture. Variations in surface and material ensure that every work is entirely unique.
This work comes ready to be hung, though is unframed. It is designed for indoor display and should be kept in a dry, protected environment.
